The Red Flag Motor Tour has partnered with the Southeast Iowa School District Industiral Technology Students to restore a 1926 Model T Pickup
We thank and congratulate the Southeast Polk School District and Joe Phillips of the Industrial Technology staff for accepting our 1926 Model T Project truck into their class curriculum. As the automotive industry moves to increased technology, there are specific basic skills that entry-level professionals need. Talents like process knowledge, scheduling, project planning, basic tool skills, mechanical aptitude, sheet metal, painting, and testing, and results-oriented training, are all skills that can be acquired on vintage vehicles. The Red Flag Motor Tour’s educational goal has been to support the ongoing instruction of youth in the servicing and restoration of classic vehicles.
Technology levels and knowledge are important, but the basic skills can be taught on the vintage and earlier automobiles. This project will allow students to tackle a project from beginning to completion, manage the planning, process management, expenses, and testing. The added benefit is for students to be a part of the project where their work can truly be tested, and performance measured.
